Contest Tanning
Okay, here is a good game plan… now remember, just like
training, dieting, etc… everything works different for everyone, so you need to
find your own formula…this just happens to be what I have found works best for
me! Good Luck! And be sure to e-mail me if you have any questions!
1.
TANNING - I recommend to start tanning about a month before a
show. (Although I am not telling you that you need to go to the ‘electric
beds/booths’, this will produce a nice base for you.)
IF you are someone who is against tanning, you will need to create a base with a
self-tanner. Self tanners can be purchased anywhere from Lancome counters to
your local drug store. Make sure that you test these before the show, as they
will have different results for everyone. Also, if you are going to use a
self-tanner instead of beds or booths, be sure to test your entire process
before the show, as mixing these products with your Show Tan
and/or Dream Tan could result in orange or ever green skin!!
2.
EXFIOTIATE and MOISTURIZE – You should be exfoliating and
moisturizing on a regular basis anyway, but be sure that you pay close attention
to this prior to tanning. Any dry spots that you have will be magnified when
tanning products are applied…the dryness will suck the tanning in and make dark
spots.
3.
SHAVING – It is suggested that you shave your entire body. (The
tanning product will not go on as even or smooth over hair.) This includes
arms, back, etc…. I am sure that most of you don’t have “hair” on your back, but
you would be surprised at how prominent the hair becomes when tanning products
are applied.
4.
SHOW TIME – Let’s say the show is on a Saturday. If you decided
to use the Show Tan by Jan Tana this is my suggestion…
·
Thursday, apply a coat of Show Tan. Let it dry, go to bed.
·
Friday morning shower it off. (Remember Show Tan is
a self tanner and will not all come off, the showers and reapplications are like
setting the color in.) Apply another coat during the day… at least 2 hours
after your shower. (This is when I would shave.)
·
Friday evening, take another shower. This will be your last
shower before the show. Apply another coat of Show Tan… trying to
make sure that it is even. Let it fully dry and go to bed.
·
Saturday morning, (the show), touch up any spots that look like
they need it. Apply Dream Tan #2 over the Show Tan.
The Dream Tan will even out any streaks that you may have.
Dream Tan can be messy and can come off on your clothes…so don’t plan on
wearing a good outfit over them… rag t-shirts when you are tanning.
5.
FACE – Do not apply this stuff to your face… go to MAC or Trish
McEvoy and have them match a foundation to your color (best to do this when you
test out your tanning products.) I have had the best luck with MAC NW45. But
like I said before… everything is different for everyone, so TEST IT OUT!!!
NOTES:
v
Show Tan stains! Be sure when you are applying it that you are
wearing old clothes, have old sheets on your bed, and are not applying it on the
carpet.
v
You can also use Competition Tan by Jan Tana. This only needs to
be applied the night before and/or the morning of the show. You can then apply
the Dream Tan over it. (I, personally, have had the best luck with the above
formula… like I said, everyone is different.)
v
I know many girls that use many different ‘formulas’. One girl I
know uses just 2 coats of Dream Tan #2 the morning of the show, and always looks
beautiful.
v
Other products you can use are: ProTan, Dyo-derm, and the
Competition Tan.
v
Remember, Fitness Competitors do not use oil.
